I'm impressed with my Sennheiser CX 400 II Ear-canal Phones August 25, 2010 Peter T I brought my Sennheiser CX 400 II Precision Noise Isolating Ear-canal Phones with Integrated Volume Control - Black after my son got me a budget pair of ear canal phones to try as I always had difficulty keeping in, the supplied earphones with my Sony NWZS545B S Series 16GB Walkman with Built-In Stereo Speakers - Black.
I read many reviews prior to my purchase & put my trust in the Sennheiser name & generally good reviews which I read. To say that it was like being in the studio is an egsaduration but I am impressed with the quality and the price. They have reasonable noise canceling qualities
The added benifit of having multisized changable earbuds to suit the user is great, & I now have no problem keeping them in place for long periods of time in comfort.
As an added bonus there is a pouch supplied to store them in.
The only negative I could report is that the wire is a rubbery type material which tends to tangle a little, BUT I do tend to wrap the phones around my MP3 (don't we all?) I have recently ordered a pair of Sennheiser CX 300 II Precision Noise Isolating Ear-canal Phones - White for my wife.
Utterly disappointing August 25, 2010 Florence (London) I bought these after reading the good reviews. knowing of Sennheiser's reputation I waited until the price came down a bit. The first set didn't work. The second set is working properly but the sound quality is poor. Although the sound is crisp, it is TOO crisp and makes you cringe...I read they got pretty loud, well I disagree. The noise isolation is mediocre, so if you're in public transports be ready to boost the volume up or you won't hear a thing! Secondly, they are not very comfortable. I have tried all the sizes and none fit properly. So every few minutes you need to pop them back in. Finally the music colours are not preserved, and it ruins the experience, particularly if you're listening to classical music.
I would recommend NOT buying them, and opting for Creative Aurvana instead. i had those, and they are way better than these. They are more expensive, but really worth the money if you're into a real musical experience. Alternatively, I have the Creative 630 too, which I prefer to the Sennheiser...I rest my case..
Bass Bass and more Bass August 20, 2010 A. Sanders (UK.) What is it with 90% of in ear headphone manufacturers? Why are they all obsessed with excessive bass its ridiculous. If the sound engineers for lets say Hendrix,Zappa,Floyd and all wanted us to listen to their music with a prominent bass dont you think they would have produced it so? Graphic equalisers are only needed to compensate for the inadequacies of the speakers/amp/turntable but with most in ear headphones I find I am constantly having to adjust the eq to get a natural true sound to my music. The bass on these is no more intrusive than on a lot of other headphones so maybe I have under scored these. The sound is average tbh the buds are not the best fit in the world and the build quality is average.
As an after note the best headphones I have ever tried were my amazing klipsch x5 which cost me an arm and a leg to buy and are the best natural sounding headphones I have ever heard, but alas after two beautiful years they have packed up.LOL.
Edit ..Right after owning these for a week they have certainly improved. And before anyone starts I know all about "burn in"Its just that these phones have dramatically improved after a week a listening. The bass has calmed down and the sound is rather good tbh.I have increased my score but because of the fit "maybe my ears"I havent given them above three .I would recommend them though if you got them to fit nicely..
Handy! August 16, 2010 Mrs. M. T. Quick (Wales, Britain) I have been looking for a long time for ear phones, I knew just what I wanted, but couldn't find it!
This Sennheiser has finally put my mind to rest, it's great and I love it!!
Disappointed August 15, 2010 rob Having read very positive reviews for this item I was very hopeful of receiving a quality product.
Basically I wanted to replace my standard Ipod Nano earphones which had been damaged.
The reviews indicated excellent bass quality. Unfortunately the bass sound is very disappointing when compared to my old earphones. I have also compared the same with my girlfriend's own standard Ipod earphones which offer a much deeper, richer sound quality and "thumping" bass.
Effectively, this item is NOT a satisfactory replacement/alternative to the standard Ipod earphone. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who does know of a satisfactory, reasonably priced alternative.
