Boostaroo beats EU! June 25, 2008 Highly miffed to learn new IPODS were set with volume limiters by the EU, I was even thinking of selling my new Apple Nano as the volume was so low, it was even hard to enjoy it in quiet areas. Still, after a bit of research, I found the Boostaroo in-line preamp and it has easily doubled the volume, which at least lets you hear songs, and you can blast them out happily, if you need to. People have mentioned the size of the Boostaroo (like a slightly hefty pack of Polos) but myself, not being bothered about the so called aesthetics of Ipods, or the size (in fact find them slightly ridiculous - a 2 inch TV screen - whoopee!) I find the IPOD and Boostaroo still slip easily into a jacket pocket, and has solved all my problems. For size suggestion tho, maybe Boostaroo could manufacture a smaller one that has only ONE earphone socket?
Cracking Product September 13, 2007 I ordered this because my Laptop's headphone output was way too quiet, this solved the problem brilliantly now 10-20% volume is easily loud enough.
Just what I needed July 15, 2007 Being a relative newbie to mp3 technology, I was a bit dissapointed by the sound level of my player, when I linked it to my surround sound system. This little device overcame the problem immediately, works brilliantly and I highly reccomend it.
Boostaroo Amp July 2, 2007 Very impressed - I watch films on my Laptop whilst exercising and some films were a little quiet which required me to press my headphones into my head. This sorts out all the problems, especially on speech - And even allows me to turn the soundcard output down. Ideal for me, but could be a bit big for iPod users.
It works. November 9, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't have much use for the two additional headphone sockets here, but they work very well, and you don't get any switching noise or dipping when you insert or remove a jack from them. The added gain, and a nice clean signal, are there when the thing is turned on, it does seem to extend battery life, and I even detected an improvement in sound quality, although that might be subjective.
The size and shape of the Boostaroo are, to be honest, a bit of a problem, since it will not fit comfortably in a shirt pocket, and the captive cable is too short to reach to another pocket. Don't even bother partnering this with a fancy mp3 player on the move, because it looks very clumsy. Nevertheless, plug it in at home and your ears will be very happy with you.
