Do exactly what i bought them for. August 4, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've spent up to this amount on headphones before, but not more.
They form part of a small studio setup - part of a portable composition rig, but also used in my main mic area for tracking, thus the following criteria were used in selection:
Robust - the finish isn't the best (flashing at the mould edges and that's purely cosmetic) but the materials are certainly going to take a fair few knocks. Not too flimsy and not too brittle. Was a little concerned regarding the hinge, but it's not a problem.
Isolated - to be able to sit and write without annoying other people/being distracted by them and to be able to record using mics with negligible bleed means closed back is the only viable choice. These fit the bill.
Inexpensive - I was originally considering some Beyer DT100s which are more expensive. These are comparatively cheap. I've not A-B'd them so cannot compare sound for price but I'm also not too precious about them. I'm pretty sure they'll take being kicked about a bit!
The compromises - these are closed back - for the same money an open backed design would probably sound better. They also have potential to get very warm if on for a long time because they encapsulate your ears comkpletely. Isolation was critical and I knew I was going to make these sacrifices before buying.
After buying - they actually sound quite good. Would never mix a track on headphones, but they're good for getting something in the right sort of area before using them in my main studio rig. The cable is of reasonable quality and detaches which makes them more transportable. They weren't that comfortable for the first couple of hours - i've got a biggish bonce - but they're quite comfortable now.
Superb Headphones August 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Had these for a few months now and they sound great with all types of music and audio. External noise is greatly reduced and the cable is user friendly. They are easy to wear, are well designed and built for the money, and at 15 cheaper than the retail price are a real bargain.

for the money you cant go wrong . as some one else said they are not on par with the px100,s but its early days yet as probaly get better when run in after a few hours.but still a very worthwhile buy for the money.after all you only get what you pay for!
perfectly insulated June 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
They have arrived today, and for this first half the day, I can say I'm really pleased with them. A nice leather carriage bag is included in the box as well.
I'm working in a silent office where you can barely hear any sound other than keyboard and mouse clicks, so the insulating quality was the most important thing for me. I can say this product is pretty well-insulated, it's so silent that if I wear it for an hour and if I don't listen to anything, I start experiencing hallucinations.
Good quality; low price June 23, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I use these cans with my ipods, Boss BR studio notebook and a number of hi-fi systems, listening to a diverse range of music from classical to rock and jazz. They represent excellent value for money, sounding as good as 'phones costing twice the price.
Background isolation is excellent and for a set of cans which are closed-back and totally ear-covering, I find them to be extremely comfortable. The sound stage is very good with a high separation quality and clear space in the pan. Frequency response is good and improves with time. My advice is to run them in gently from new. Contrary to other comments, I find that the bass response is more than adequate and accurately balanced with other values in the sound spectrum. The construction is plastic but not cheap or unpleasant; they are light to wear and do not lead to the ear fatigue that I get with other cans after using for one hour. The ear padding is very comfortable. The lead is light, coiled and quite long, and can be unplugged; so if you want to replace it with a 5 metre straight 3.5mm stereo-plugged lead, you can. DJs have the advantage of the swivel on the right can, if that is your bag. The plug is a 'gold' jack with a screw-on 6.3mm convertor so the cans can be used in most systems with or without the screw-on adaptor, depending on the female socket size.
There are better 'phones; Sennheisers costing a lot more. In my experience, Sennheiser are the masters of the product. The HD215s are excellent value for money from a manufacturer that has stood the test of time. From my viewpoint, if closed back cans and a 35GBP budget are your specifications, these will take some beating; recommended.
