Poor quality even poorer customer services March 11, 2008 First I would like to say that we have had this player for about 14 months and it has played dvd's okay, not brilliant but acceptable. Our problem is that where the power supply plugs into both the player itself and the battery pack the small centre pin inside the units which connects to the inside of the power plug has broken on both parts rendering the whole thing useless. I contacted Daewoo UK and spoke to the customer services manager who said it was more than one year old and so basically they were not interested. However he did offer to sell me another battery pack for 35!!! For both of these small pins to break would suggest to me that it is a weak spot but the company are not interested. Buy at your peril.
Poor design and build quality June 24, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Whilst one of the cheapest on the market, I must admit there is a reason: the design is such that it is almost impossible to use in the car except using the battery pack, and the speakers. This is because the connector for the in-car charger and the head phones is located on the side of the DVD - just where most people will want to wedge the player between the seats.
The in-car charger is fragile and ours broke after a few uses. The inability to use the headphones in the car (unless you have an arm rest between the seat to balance the player on) means the driver has to listen to the DVD. Lastly the on/off switch is so fragile that ours has jammed in the on position, so meaning the only way to turn it off is to turn off at the plug / remove the battery.
That apart, the sound quality is poor.
Great Little 7" LCD Portable Multi Region Capable DVD Player ! March 13, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
As soon I got this DVD player out of the box it first and everytime great price, great value too. Plus it works on Region 1 Disks but I had to get the instructions from Amazon.co.uk to make it truly Multi-Region player. I only wish there was a Daewoo 10" or 12" LCD Portable Multi Region Capable DVD Player so I can buy that one too !!!
Faulty item January 26, 2007 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
On the good side the DVD player has a good screen. On the bad side its has pretty lousy sound. Also the battery fits on to the back of the unit like an after thought and juts out rather badly.
My unit would only occasionally turn on without the mains plugged in, and the battery indicator light flashed continuously. [..]not much point in a portable DVD that only works when its plugged in!
Daewoo DPC7400P 7" LCD Portable Multi Region Capable DVD Player January 15, 2007 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
In the title it states "Multi Region Capable DVD Player" I bought this Portable DVD player thinking it could play any type of DVD regardless of region, well I was wrong! It will not play Region 1 DVD's no matter what set-up you use. I wish now I had checked what Multi Region Capable DVD Player actually means, and not what it displays!
