Creative Couldn't Care Less December 5, 2008 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
Beware of Creative customer care.
I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player.
Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it.
Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system.
I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if it didn't work I'd be invited to send the unit in for repair or replacement.
When I took the fateful step and lost everything they informed me that I was out of warranty and they wanted 60 to repair it (even though they had known my purchase date and had a copy of my Amazon receipt from the beginning).
As this unit can now be bought for about this amount I had no option but to bin it.
Result, no player, 4500 tracks and dozens of films lost forever.
If they had told me the cost of repair before pushing me to reformat I could have made and informed decision.
Do not trust their advice, in fact if I were you I'd buy elsewhere!
Brilliant! Great value for money! May 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Was looking to upgrade my sound quality, but not wanting to pay any huge amount of money. After reading the reviews on this card i decided to go for it. And wow! What a great sound card for such a small price!
The one thing i do have to warn people of, if you use crappy speakers with this sounds card, the sound quality is awfull, as the card tries to send out sound quality and pitches that the speakers cant manage. Make sure you have a good sound system to go with it. The combination that Amazon recommend it s great one, and just happens to be what I have!
Definately worth buying!!

A must upgrade for onboard sound card users
Excellent value upgrade for onboard audio... January 26, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought one of these to upgrade the AC'97 onboard audio on my system, and it has made a huge difference. Installation was easy, it just fits into an empty PCI slot, plug your system back in, reboot it and run the included CD to install the drivers. The Card has highly configurable audio options for surround sound, graphic equaliser and speaker selection from 2.0 to 7.1 as well as analogue or digital audio inputs. The included Creative Media Source software is great for CD burning, MP3 conversion, organising your music library etc, so all in all I'd highly recommend this Card to anyone looking for an effective and inexpensive upgrade for either an outdated card or onboard audio.
Value for Money February 16, 2007 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
Ok, It's not going to be the best card in the world but if your looking for cheap and the best for your money this is it!
I just got the Creative Inspire T6100 speakers and the Audigy SE is a nice companion, compared to my onboard sound the main difference I noticed was the control over bass the Audigy had, the lower ranges where much smoother and distortion free (not that the sub was not brilliant in the first place), as for the sound quality it's what you would expect, I obviously cannot test it to it's upmost limit with midrange products.
One big advantage is the fact that the card allows for a Mic input aswell as the 3 leads that you sometimes find on some surround sound speakers.
If your into casual listneing like MP3's (which is my main use) the added quality of bass with this card is a great added bonus.
The software is not bad but it's not great either, I'm preety computer privy yet I failed to notice that you have to select an option in creatives software to allow CMSS 3D Surround which basically allows your other speakers to play sound (was confused as to why only 2 speakers and sub where playing). A great feature of the software is the subwoofer controls, there are ltos fo tweaks etc... that can take the bass preety low which is handy if you need to take it lower at night.
Conclusion: If your looking for a reliable alternative to onboard sound this is your card.
